About Us

The Proscenium Club is a collective of like-minded artists who are passionate about creating and producing Multi-Arts projects especially New Canadian Theater. There is a shortage of new written theatrical work emerging from Northern & Rural Ontario. Proscenium Club strives to raise awareness of the importance of creating new works and keeping Northern & Rural Ontario on the National cultural map. As professional artists we continue to develop new works and mount productions while fostering new talent and reaching new audiences. Our collective engages in many multiple disciplines under the larger theatrical banner incorporating media art, visual art, poetry, puppetry, spoken word, dance and all forms of performance and performing arts. Working together we create a professional collaborative experience in everything the company produces.

Objectives of Proscenium Club: The establishment and operation of dramatic theatre for the purposes of promoting interest in and the practice of drama and the related arts; establishing and operating a theatre and repertory group; providing facilities for education and instruction in the theatrical arts; advancing knowledge and appreciation of dramatic culture and tradition by theatrical performances; conducting annual theatrical festivals; and such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objects.

History: Proscenium started in summer 2016 following a series of development workshops conducted by the Future in Safe Hands Collective (FISH) with the support of the Ontario Arts Council. The Fish Collective was focusing on development of individual theatre skills building resources within the region by developing a new generation of emerging theatre artists. Joshua Bainbridge took this one step further by uniting several of these emerging artists and building a professional theatre troupe.

The Proscenium Club was Incorporated with the Ministry of Government Services Ontario on December 5th, 2017.

Our company By-laws have been construed in accordance with the provisions of the Ontario Incorporation Act.
